I recently ran into a problem with the WordPress backup plugin that I have used in the past. Instead of emailing me my weekly backup, it started saving them on my hosting space. The problem with this lies in the fact that I don’t want to waste disk space with old backups of my site. In reality, you only need your LATEST backup of your site.
After a lot of searching, I found a great plugin that works perfectly for my needs.
BackWPUp is a WordPress backup plugin and more…
Here are some of its features & functions:
- Database Backup
- WordPress XML Export
- Optimize Database
- Check\Repair Database
- File Backup
- Backups in zip, tar, tar.gz, tar.bz2 format
- Store backup to Folder
- Store backup to FTP Server
- Store backup to Amazon S3
- Store backup to Google Storage
- Store backup to Microsoft Azure (Blob)
- Store backup to RackSpaceCloud
- Store backup to DropBox
- Store backup to SugarSync
- Send Log/Backup by Email
- Multisite Support only as Network Admin
I have bolded the functions that I have it scheduled to do on a weekly basis. You can schedule these functions as often as you would like but weekly works for me!
One great feature of this WordPress backup is that you can get a copy of your theme files & uploads as well. Most database backups will just send your database (which includes your content) but not your theme files & image uploads, etc. I have scheduled my database backup weekly and my theme files & uploads to come in once a month.
